Privacy notice
Last updated 8 October 2026.
QuoteSnap is an app that prices building work, puts homeowners in touch with tradespeople, and helps tradespeople quote, invoice and get paid. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why, who sees it, and your rights. We've tried to write it plainly.
Who we are
QuoteSnap is run by Anthony Hudson, trading as QuoteSnap. We are the controller of the personal information described here. Email us at support@quotesnap.co.uk.
What we collect
Everyone
- Your name, mobile number, postcode and, if you give it, your email address.
- The code we text you to sign in. We don't use passwords.
- Your phone's push notification token, so we can send you notifications.
- Records of what you do that touches money or other people's information (for example, unlocking a job, sending a quote, paying an invoice), including the time and the internet address it came from. We keep these to prevent fraud and settle disputes.
- Messages you send in a job's conversation, reviews you write, and anything you report to us.
Homeowners
- The jobs you post: photos, a voice note or typed description, the written-up version of the voice note, the kind of work, when you'd like it done, the address and any access notes.
- The price we work out for your job and how we worked it out.
Tradespeople
- Your business details: business name, trades, the base postcode and how far you travel, and if you give them, your company number, VAT number, UTR, CIS status, business address, phone and email.
- Copies of your insurance certificates and cards (for example public liability and CSCS), and what we decide when we check them.
- Your credit purchases and how you use them.
- The quotes, bookings and invoices you create, including details of customers you add yourself.
- If you choose to add them, your bank account name, sort code and account number, so customers can pay you by transfer. These are stored encrypted.
Contractors and subcontractors
- Your company details, the packages you put out to tender, the tenders you submit, compliance records, and awards.
Payments
Card payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep the amount, what it was for, and whether it succeeded. Tradespeople give their identity and bank details to Stripe on Stripe's own pages to receive payouts; we keep only whether payouts are switched on.
How we use it, and why we're allowed to
| What we do | Our legal basis |
|---|---|
| Run your account, sign you in, and provide the app: pricing jobs, showing jobs to tradespeople, unlocking contact details, quotes, bookings, invoices, payments, tenders | It's necessary to provide the service you asked for (contract) |
| Release a homeowner's name, address, phone, email and access notes to up to five tradespeople who unlock their job | Contract, and the homeowner is told and agrees when they post the job; we record that agreement with the time and the wording shown |
| Check tradespeople's insurance and documents | Legitimate interests: keeping homeowners safe and the marketplace trustworthy |
| Prevent fraud and abuse, act on reports, block and suspend accounts | Legitimate interests: keeping people safe |
| Keep invoice and payment records | Legal obligation (tax and accounting records) |
| Send notifications about your jobs, quotes and payments | Contract |
| Improve our pricing, using the jobs priced and the quotes accepted | Legitimate interests; we use the job details, not who you are |
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who sees it
Other people on QuoteSnap
- Tradespeople near a homeowner's job see the photos, the description, the kind of work, the district (for example "DY2") and town. They don't see the homeowner's name, address, phone or email.
- Up to five tradespeople can pay to unlock a job. Each one who does sees the homeowner's name, address, phone number, email and access notes, so they can get in touch about that job.
- A homeowner sees the business details, ratings and quotes of tradespeople who quote for their job.
- When work is booked, the homeowner and the tradesperson can message each other.
- Contractors see the tenders subcontractors send them, and the subcontractor's phone number once a tender is awarded.
Companies that run parts of QuoteSnap for us (processors, under contract)
- Stripe: card payments and payouts.
- Our SMS provider: sign-in codes.
- Our hosting and storage provider: where the app and your files are kept.
- Anthropic: our AI pricing reads a job's photos, description, kind of work and postcode district. It doesn't receive your name or contact details.
- OpenAI: turns voice notes into text.
- Expo: delivers push notifications.
- Our email provider: quote, invoice and account emails.
- postcodes.io: looks up postcodes. Only the postcode is sent.
Some of these companies are in the United States. Where your information leaves the UK, it's protected by the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or by the UK–US data bridge.
We'll also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
- Jobs: photos, voice notes, descriptions, messages and the homeowner's address and contact details are deleted or anonymised two years after the job is finished or cancelled, or two years after it last changed if it never went ahead.
- Drafts you never post: a job you started but never posted (and no tradesperson quoted on) is deleted, with its photos and voice note, after 90 days untouched.
- Packages put out to tender: the documents, the site address, the description and the notes on tenders are deleted two years after the package is awarded, closed or cancelled, or two years after a draft last changed. The amounts and the award are kept as money records.
- Money records: invoices, payments and the credit ledger are kept without your personal details. A copy of each invoice as issued is kept for six years, because tradespeople need it for their tax records.
- Accounts: if you don't use QuoteSnap for three years, we'll tell you, and delete your account 30 days later unless you sign in.
- Reports: kept for two years after they're dealt with.
- Notifications in the app: deleted after two years.
- Activity records (what was done, when, and from which internet address): a record that someone saw your contact details is kept for two years; the rest for six years, with the money records.
